Save the Correllus White Pines
The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is moving forward with a plan to clearcut 175 acres of 80–100-year-old white pines in the Manuel F. Correllus State Forest — the heart of Martha's Vineyard and the land above its sole-source aquifer. The stated objectives are creating habitat for select species and reducing fire risk. Friends of Vineyard Forests stands with the community effort to shift this plan in a less destructive direction.
